Improving workplace morale should be given paramount importance, the moment you notice discrepancies in the performance and output of your organization. A low morale among employees can prove to be disastrous for any sort of organization.

Boost Workplace Morale
The success and survival of a company very much depend on the morale of its employees.

Improving Workplace Morale

It is not a tough task improving your workplace’s morale. Yes, it can be demanding, not financially but mentally. It can be time-consuming but has to be executed with immediate effect. Let us look at a few techniques that can be implemented to boost your team’s morale.

1. Have an Activity Board

Most companies, big or small tend to be following this technique. They organize a board which displays the performance of the employees thereby giving the employees a chance to scrutinize themselves. Not only work related stuff, but you can also have lighter vein stuff like cartoons, jokes or writings that in a way tickle the funny bone.

The above technique is particularly helpful on Monday mornings because the employees are still feeling a little sluggish after the weekend.

2. Create Employee-Friendly Work Hours

By saying employee-friendly work hours, I mean flexible times for the employees. You would be surprised to see what stress it can relieve an employee. You might want to be a little flexible by allowing the employees to arrive an hour late or an hour early on a particular day which the employee chooses.

The above technique especially helps working parents.

3. Try to Change Location

When I say change locations, I mean holding important meetings and seminars at a refreshing place such as a restaurant or a resort. This would help the employee get rid of monotony and the meeting at a new place would arouse much interest in him as the environment is much more expandable and not confined to a stifling room.

4. Allow a Few Perks

Often employees are left in charge of newer colleagues and the former needs to coach the latter until he gets familiar with work. Recognise such contributions and award perks in the form of gift vouchers or gifts. This way every employee might show interest in coaching and sharing responsibilities. A very effective morale booster.

5. Have a Weekly Gathering

The gathering does not have to be elaborate. Just an hour of getting together during the working hours on a weekday to share thoughts and discuss issues can prove to be very refreshing for the employees.

6. Recognise Commitment and Talent

Any employee would desire being recognized by his employer and colleagues. Awarding the worthy can instill confidence in the employee and stimulate others to aspire for the same.

Improving workplace morale comes down to how efficiently you want your place to run. Involving employees and listening and gathering their thoughts works wonders for any organization.

The Employee Employer Relationship

Employee Employer Relationship
There was a time when employers were the emperors and the employees were at their behest to execute their orders. But, over time the employee employer relationship has seen a lot of changes.

There is no more superiority-inferiority thing between the staff and the management anymore. For an organization to produce productive outputs, it is important to have a cordial relationship with the employees.

Employee Employer Relationship

Several laws have been put in place to safeguard the interests of employees at workplaces. For any unlawful behavior by the bosses could land both them and the organization in trouble while on the other hand, a proper working relationship could reap rewards.

Maintaining that Relationship

Straining a relationship may be easy but maintaining one can be very tough. The following tips can be useful for employees to establish that required working relationship.

  • Employee motivation should be given paramount importance. This is possible only upon equal treatment. Hardworking employees should be duly rewarded and it would set that sense of healthy competition among employees. Not only that but the company policies would be respected meaning you are respected.
  • The management should take time out for every employee on a regular. Not even the lowest employee should be ignored. Listen to their grievances and seek suggestions for improving the organization. This way you are letting the employees be a part of the management.
  • Have an employee get together on a regular basis. Make sure you have some fun with team building activities. Recreational activities would bring the management close to the employees and also would help the bosses wipe that serious look on their faces.
  • If you are the boss of your company, organize a barbecue or a cocktail party in your own backyard for all the employees. This way you are making them feel at home and you are recognizing them at an equal level.
  • Make sure the managers and the team leaders or the respective supervisors work in tandem with the team rather than just boss over. It is important that everyone accomplishes his/her share of allotted work. Work accomplishment is the basic key to the success of any organization.

The employee employer relationship when at its best helps an organization grow by leaps and bounds.
